How do you get people to talk in a breakout room?
Within each breakout room, participants can chat if participant chat is enabled in the main room, and at the same level it's enabled in the main room. If participants can only chat with the host/co-host in the main room, they will not be able to chat with other participants in breakout rooms.

The host can broadcast a message to all breakout rooms, to share information with all participants. Note: This must be enabled in your breakout room settings. In the meeting controls, click Breakout Rooms . Click Broadcast, and select Broadcast Message.
CHAT: Chat is available in breakout rooms only if chat is enabled in the main meeting room. If the chat is enabled, the chat messages in each breakout room are only available to those participants in the breakout room.
The host of the meeting will not be assigned to a breakout room and cannot see or hear what is happening in the breakout rooms during the meeting. Also, the breakout rooms cannot hear or see what is happening in the other breakout rooms as well.
Hosts and co-hosts cannot send chat messages to the breakout rooms from the main session. While inside a room, participants cannot send chat messages to the host while inside a room, but can request assistance.
- In the meeting controls, select Breakout rooms .
- Select Assign participants and select the checkbox next to the person's name you want to move.
- Choose a new room for the person and select Assign, then Move.
Usually, breakout rooms participants can't select breakout rooms they want to be in, they can't self-select their groups. Only the main meeting host and co-host can enable breakout rooms, close all rooms, have a pop-up, or broadcast messages to the breakout rooms.
As the host, you will not be sorted into one of the breakout rooms, and cannot hear what is being discussed in the Breakout Rooms. However, you can visit individual Breakout Rooms to check in on the discussions happening in a particular room.
Solution #1: Make sure you aren't muted
If it is, click the microphone icon to unmute. While participant microphones will generally remained muted during the TSRT series, during future breakout sessions it will be important that your microphone is functioning properly and that you are able to mute and unmute it.
Can the host see breakout room chats?
Only the people in that specific breakout room will see your chat message. It will not be seen in other breakout rooms. Only the Host or co-host has the ability to broadcast messages to all breakout rooms.
Go to Allow Participants to, then click on Share Screen to select the option. If there is a checkmark next to Share Screen, it is turned on. Note: By turning on this feature, all participants will be able to share their screen.
If you Ask for Help , it will notify the meeting host that you need assistance and they will be asked to join your breakout room. Tap the screen to display meeting controls. Tap Ask for Help in the top-left corner. Confirm that you would like assistance by tapping Ask for Help.
In-meeting chat – You can also use the chat function within your Breakout Room to message other participants in the room or share links, content, and ideas. Asking the host for help – This feature is unique to Breakout Rooms, and allows you to contact the host to let them know you need help within your Breakout Room.
Participating in the breakout room
You will be able to mute and unmute like you can in the main session.
